One Package

One of the biggest misconceptions of food consumption is the idea of servings.  Diets are typically based on serving sizes and percentages based on servings.  However, many of us forget that one package typically includes multiple servings throwing the diet out the door.  A bag of chips  typically contains more than 2 servings, so make sure that you close the bag after one.  Also, bottles of soda typically have 2.-3 servings making it necessary to multiply the daily values by 2-3 to get actual intake counts.  I’m not going to elaborate on fast food, but do me a favor and actually read the sign in the restaurant next time.  It is common practice for these establishments to hide these charts in low traffic areas.
